Mr. McGarvey attended vocational-technical
electrical school and Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. After serving
in the U.S. Navy for 7 years, he began his career as an electrical
contractor. He formed J.S. McGarvey, Inc. ('JMC') in 1977, which quickly
became one of the largest open shop electrical contractors in the Philadelphia
area specializing in private industrial electrical work and municipal, federal
and state prime contracts up to $10,000,000.
In 1984 he formed McGarvey Development Company
('MDC') to build commercial and industrial buildings in southern New
Jersey. From 1984 through 1999 MDC constructed over 4,000,000 sq. ft.
comprised of buildings from 20,000 sf to over 400,000 sq. ft.. MDC
completed numerous build to suits for such companies as Wilsonart, Franklin
Computers, Tropicana and American Builtrite. During that period MDC
maintained ownership of approximately 1,500,000 sq. ft. until its sale to a
national REIT in 1999.
In 1996, MDC relocated to Southwest Florida and
quickly became one of the largest commercial developers in the market. In
addition, Mr. McGarvey formed McGarvey Custom Homes, Inc. in 2001, which has
built over 80 high-end customer homes in the Naples/Bonita Springs
area.
Mr. McGarvey holds General Contractor and
Electrical licenses in the State of Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and
maintains memberships on or in the following organizations:
